About the Logo
Our logo will appear in every issue of the International Journal of Birth and Parent Education, symbolising the journal’s intent.
It is circular to represent both the global reach of the Journal and also the continuity between generations of families. The circular image points to the importance of ensuring that every new family is able to provide the physical, emotional and social nurturance that enable the new baby to grow, in her or his turn, into a mother or father capable of providing nurturance to their own offspring.
The tree, with the globe at its centre, is both the tree of life and represents how the work of everyone in the field of parent education and support has huge impact on societies around the world.
At the base of the tree, on the left, is a pregnant woman representing the Journal’s commitment to sharing scholarship and best practice about the relationship between the mother and her unborn child. Next comes a parent pushing a pram, pointing to the critical importance of the baby’s earliest relationships in the first months of his or her life. The middle figure is a mother lifting her baby high, demonstrating how it is the baby’s parents or key family members who help him or her to achieve their potential. Given sensitive parenting, the baby will grow into a confident toddler, ready to explore the world, with the ongoing support of his or her family, as illustrated by the figures on the right of the tree.
